about norfolk apothecary

hello there and welcome!

ellie here, founder of norfolk apothecary.

i firmly believe there is a link between our wellbeing and living seasonally. the more I lean into the seasons the more I embrace a peaceful and joyful life. 

in spring we have a clean fresh energy. in autumn it is all about grounding. these feelings inspired all the scents in the norfolk apothecary range.

 i am proudly vegan, so it goes without saying all our products are vegan and cruelty free. I even add a bit of hippy magik to every thing with dried florals or crystals.

where it all started…..

summer was the first seasonal range I ever did. there’s nothing I love more than norfolk in summer. wildflowers in my garden bring me so much joy. warm summer air mixed with the sweet scent of flowers…there’s nothing better. and so the summer range was born. lavender, rose, geranium and bergamot. then came autumn and it was time to ground in. the greens of the garden turn to orange and it’s time for us to retreat a little. clary, sage, lemon and sandalwood inspired a new range. In winter, it became time to fully hibernate and mandarin and bergamot brought all the cosy vibes. Then came spring and the fresh, clean energy. Lemon, bergamot and lime.

there’s nothing to say you can’t pick the scents of winter in summer. the ranges are inspired by moods and energies. if you’re feeling you want uplifting, choose spring and summer. If you’re feeling you need grounding and calming, opt for autumn and winter.

…then came norfolk folklore society

 if you’re from norfolk, you’ll know this county is rich in folklore. from the famous blackshuck, to the legend of the “brown lady of raynham” ghost. moving to norfolk, i quickly became fascinated with all the stories and was soon listening to podcasts and attending talks. when my path crossed with Stacia and Siofra at norfolk folklore society, we just all knew we needed to work together somehow. that “somehow” turned into seasonal collaborations of scents inspired by different folklore tales. Stacia chooses the folklore tale, curates a written story and a qr code of this is printed on the label of the bottle you buy. you then scan the qr code and read the tale while looking at the illustration on the label which is drawn by the very talented Matt Willis. it’s a collaboration I’m incredibly proud of, and one that’s become extremely popular with customers all across the country.
